Rex Byrnes, Accused Child Predator From New York, Is On The Run
Authorities say Rex Byrnes has a lazy right eye and a number of tattoos. He is into death metal and playing the guitar. Byrnes previously had long hair and smoked cigarettes. On Feb. 13, 2018, authorities in Schenectady, New York said they received a disturbing call from a woman who said she just found out her husband was raping his young biological daughter. Alyssa Marotta had been broken up with her husband, Rex Byrnes, for only two weeks before learning this information.
Alyssa told investigators her step-daughter confided in her that she had been a victim at the hands of her own father from the time she was 9-years-old until she was 11. The brave young girl, who is now a teenager and someone In Pursuit with John Walsh will only identify as "Sarah," was interviewed by authorities and she told them everything.
"Sarah" was also incredibly brave to share her experience with Callahan Walsh, in hopes someone listening at home would come forward with information to find her predator father.
"Sarah" said she was assaulted at least once a week by Byrnes. It would normally happen when Alyssa was at work and it would happen in the couple’s marital bed. According to "Sarah" she would beg Byrnes not to hurt her, but he refused to stop – and the alleged abuse continued.
Alyssa said that once she found out she immediately called Byrnes, who was staying at his mother's house, and confronted him over the phone. Byrnes denied the allegation and said his daughter was lying. Alyssa also told him he would never see his daughter again.
Byrnes fled and hasn't been seen since.
In February 2019, a warrant was issued for Byrnes. “Sarah” and Alyssa are hoping someone reading this or watching the show will do the right thing and come forward to turn him in once and for all. "Sarah" said, "I definitely feel angry.... he could be doing what he was doing to me to anyone else and I don't want anyone else to go through what I had to go through."
Authorities say Rex Byrnes has two tattoos of gargoyles on his back. He has another tattoo of an "A" in a circle with a line through it. He stands 5 feet 8 and weighs around 150 pounds. It’s possible Byrnes is working as a floor finisher. Byrnes is from Canajoharie and it's possible he has ties to Bradenton, Florida.
