It's a case that has been open since 1986 and it's one that Detective Charan Singh with the Yuba City Police isn't giving up solving. Eva Crist, a mother of three young children, was stabbed to death in an alley in Yuba City, California.

Eva's daughters, Honey and Christina, sat down with Callahan Walsh to talk about their life growing up and the memories they have of their hard working mom. The women said Eva met her on-again-off-again boyfriend Efren Meza in Fresno, California. On the surface, the relationship seemed to be going well, but only six months after meeting, everything went downhill.

According to the sisters, it started with minor disagreements but escalated quickly to physical violence. Meza has been described as controlling and wouldn't let Eva move on, even when she moved from Fresno to get away from him and settled into Yuba City. Somehow, Meza managed to make up with Eva and move into the house. It was anything but positive, Meza allegedly continued to terrorize the family, especially Eva.

Then, on December 8, 1986, Eva was found murdered in an alley. Investigators said when first responders were called, Meza was on the scene and very close by. He was even watching paramedics work on the woman he allegedly killed.

Although Meza was formally charged in February 1987, he took off shortly after and hasn't been seen since. Authorities said Meza has ties to Mexico, California, and Washington state.

Meza stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 160 pounds at the time of the incident. He has black hair, which may have turned fully gray, and brown eyes. He's now in his late 60s. An age progression was created to show what Meza could look like today.
