Ding Dongs, Hair Gel & Lots Of Toothbrushes: Jodi Arias' Prison Purchases Revealed

A pair of scissors, several toothbrushes, and lots of junk food: These are just a few of the choice items that Jodi Arias bought from the prison commissary.

Arias was allowed to purchase a pair of five-inch scissors on July 6, 2017, according to a list of goods from the Arizona Department of Corrections that were obtained by Radar. Arias was convicted of first-degree murder in the killing of Travis Alexander in his home in 2008. Alexander’s throat was slit, and he was stabbed 29 times. She claimed that she killed her ex-boyfriend in self-defense, but the jury didn’t buy her story and sentenced her to life in prison.

Arias also purchased several anti-shank toothbrushes and a variety of snacks including black beans, refried beans, regular summer sausage and hot and spicy sausage, sardines in oil, and “Ding Dong” snack cakes. Perhaps not surprisingly, Arias also bought antacid tablets.

While Radar reports that Arias purchased sex toys from the commissary, that’s not explicitly indicated. There is evidence, however, that female inmates are known to use both toothbrushes and sausages for intimate entertainment, so you can make whatever assumptions you will from Arias’ shopping list.

We find the idea of Arias with access to scissors a bit more of a concern than her possible use of sex toys, to be honest.

Also on her list: Two pairs of women’s briefs, in size small — plus light tinted moisturizer, lip balm, and pro-gel pomade. Previously, Arias — who is referred to as Inmate #281129 in the commissary order history — purchased items including colored pencils, an eraser, and a pad to continue her artwork, along with acne medication and ointment to treat athlete’s foot.
