MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ — Just in time for the holidays, video has surfaced of Jodi Arias doing a bang-up job of singing Christmastime standard "O Holy Night."

Back in 2010, just before Christmas, then Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, known as "America's Toughest Sheriff," held an American Idol–style singing contest in his jail. The inmate who won would get the treat of a big Christmas dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, and cookies.

The judges for the contest were reportedly Arpaio, a man in an Elvis costume, and someone dressed as Santa Claus.

Arias, who was not well-known at the time, won first place in the contest, and the video of her triumphant performance was broadcast throughout the jail's televisions on Christmas day.

Arias must have been grateful to have won a decent meal for one day, as Arpaio, who served as sheriff from 1993 to 2016, was known for serving restrictive and disgusting food in his jail.
