MINNETONKA, MN — Derrick Aaron Kinchen, 28, has been charged with felony criminal sexual conduct for attempting to sexually assault a seven-year-old girl in a home where he was staying as an Airbnb guest.

The girl’s father discovered Kinchen naked in bed next to his daughter, whose nightgown was pulled up. The dad also told police, “His penis was erect.”

When the father yelled in outrage, Kinchen reportedly grabbed his jacket and wallet before bolting out of the residence. Police immediately enacted an emergency manhunt.

Searchers discovered Kinchen crouched inside a partly covered fishing boat parked at a nearby home. According to arrest documents, “The defendant was naked except for a suit coat.”

Later, the little girl told authorities that Kinchen whispered in her ear that he “wanted her to keep a secret from her mom and dad.” She also said he was touching himself and pulled down her underpants.

Airbnb decried the situation and issued an official statement:

“The reported abhorrent behavior has no place on Airbnb and we will not tolerate it. We are focused on providing our host family with our full support, we are working with the local police to ensure they have our assistance, and we banned this user from our community. Keeping our community safe is the most important thing we do. None of our hosts should ever have to deal with anything like this.”

Lansing, Michigan, resident Kinchen is being held on $250,000 bail for one felony count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He has no previous convictions for sexual or violent offenses.
