Man arrested after murder spree in Memphis

On Sept. 7, a 19-year-old in Memphis, Tennessee shot multiple people in separate incidents, leaving four people dead and three wounded. The suspect, Ezekiel Dejuan Kelly, allegedly recorded himself committing one of the crimes on Facebook Live. Kelly is currently in police custody.

Stepmother of missing Harmony Montgomery arrested

On Sept. 9, Kayla Montgomery, 32, was arrested at her home in Manchester, New Hampshire, a day after she failed to show up to a scheduled court hearing. The hearing was related to the pending felony and misdemeanor charges against her in connection with her missing stepdaughter, Harmony Montgomery. Kayla Montgomery allegedly lied to the state Department of Health and Human Services about having Harmony in her care when she did not.

Anna Delvey’s former friend sues Netflix over Inventing Anna depiction

On Aug. 29, Rachel DeLoache Williams filed a defamation lawsuit against Netflix for how she is depicted in Inventing Anna, the true crime limited series about notorious scammer Anna Delvey. The lawsuit claims that the character of Williams, who was portrayed by actress Katie Lowes, is depicted as “a greedy, snobbish, disloyal, dishonest, cowardly, manipulative and opportunistic person.” The lawsuit also claims that the show has done “catastrophic damage” to Williams’ reputation.

Ohio father arrested after intentionally leaving 1-year-old son in hot car

19-year-old Landon Parrot faces charges after his 1-year-old son died after being left in a hot car for approximately 5 hours. After an interview with Parrot, New Philadelphia Police Chief Michael Goodwin released a statement saying: “It appears that this was not a matter of forgetting the child but was a deliberate act so as the child would not be a disturbance while in the house." Parrot faces charges of murder, two counts of endangering children, and involuntary manslaughter.

Two people shot at Uvalde Memorial Park

Two people were hospitalized following a shooting at Uvalde Memorial Park in Uvalde, Texas around 5 p.m. on Sept. 8. The park is located just a little over a mile away from Robb Elementary School, where a gunman opened fire into classrooms in May, killing 19 students and 2 teachers. The shooting is thought to be gang-related.
