Four Teens Arrested For Attempted Murder After Allegedly Running Over Florida Mom
A mother is in critical condition and four teens are facing attempted felony murder charges after a dispute escalated into violence.
According to a statement released by the Polk County Sheriff's office four teenagers are in custody and face attempted felony murder and burglary assault charges after they went to confront another teenager at a home near Winter Haven, Florida earlier this week.
Elijah Stansell, 18, and a 16-year-old, a 15-year-old, and a 14-year-old went to the victim's home to address a dispute that was "romantic in nature." According to the statement the the suspects banged on the door, which prompted the victim to exit the side door and enter the carport to see who was at the front door. At this point the suspects ran to the carport where Stansell allegedly attacked the victim, and then Stansell and another suspect followed the victim as he retreated into his home. It was at this point that the victim's mother arrived, and the suspects fled across the street into a van.
The statement goes on to detail how the mother followed the suspects, and began to take photos of them with her cellphone. It was then that the suspects, according to authorities, "intentionally ran into her, then over her, before fleeing the scene."
Several eyewitnesses were present to view the alleged incident and the crimes were captured on home surveillance videos, according to authorities.
In additional to the attempted felony murder and burglarly assault charges Stansell faces three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
This was a coordinated, planned attack, carried out by a group of teens who beat up a teen then ran over his mother, leaving her for dead. I can't even fathom teenagers doing something so heinous. Our prayers are with this family.
