Chicago police have arrested a man who allegedly killed his mother on Christmas Eve and dumped her body in a garbage can.

Chicago police have arrested a man who allegedly killed his mother on Christmas Eve and dumped her body in a garbage can.

Betty Wallace, 67, was found by Streets and Sanitation workers on Monday afternoon while working on the 10800 block of South Prospect Avenue in the Morgan Park neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

According to authorities Wallace was unresponsive and had multiple stab wounds to her legs and blunt trauma to her face, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Robert Wallace, 25, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder. Wallace lived with his mother, according to authorities.

Police have not released any other details of the attack. Wallace is scheduled for a bail hearing on Thursday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building, according to WLS-TV.

The investigation continues.
