5 Shocking Real-Life Cases Of Satanic Ritual Killings

By: Michelle Sigona

During the 1980s and 1990s, the Satanic Panic had everyone in fear of Satanic ritual abuse. Sensationalistic horror stories about people being sacrificed to the devil, animal killings, sex abuse, blood-drinking, and more seized the country, despite the fact that there haven’t been that many legit crimes linked to Satanism or the Occult. Of course, that doesn’t mean they don’t happen occasionally. Take these instances…

California Man Fillets His Own Mother During Ritual Killing

A man who skinned and murdered his own mother in a Satanic ritual is serving 25 years to life in prison. According to the LA Times, Moises Meraz-Espinoza, then 18, confessed to killing his mother, 42-year-old Amelia Espinoza, during a satanic ritual. The report said she was not only skinned, but also filleted and dismembered as well. The judge in the case said this case was “the most disgusting, hideous and vulgar” cases he’s ever seen in 50 years.

Richard Ramirez: One of the Most Prolific Serial Ritualistic Killers Ever

Convicted serial killer Richard Ramirez is probably the most well-known Satanic killer in crime history. Ramirez, known best as “the Night Stalker,” was convicted of killing 13 people after invading their homes, raping and brutally murdering many of them, NBC Los Angeles said. The news station said a film about Ramirez written by Megan Griffiths will premiere in early June in Santa Ana, with box office receipts will be donated to the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

Texas Teens Sentenced For Satanic Killing of Young Girl

A pair of Texas teens were convicted of luring a 15-year-old girl, torturing and killing her in order to sell their souls to the devil. In November 2014, reports say the suspects identified as 17-year-old Jose Reyes and 16-year-old Victor Alias, abducted Corrian Cervantes. Her body was reportedly found with an upside-down cross carved into her stomach. She was taken to a location where Click2Houston reports she was raped and mutilated. Both suspects were arrested, convicted and now serving automatic life sentences.

Woman Leader of Cult Convicted of Ritualistic Sacrifice Killing Sits Behind Bars

A woman convicted of killing a 17-year-old girl in 1979 during a ritualistic sacrifice is still behind bars. The Herald News says Robin Murphy, who pleaded guilty in 1980 to killing Karen Marsden, attempted to be paroled in 2012. Murphy was reportedly shut down and told she could not reapply again for five years. This was after Murphy had previously won parole in 2004 and released. The report said she was returned to prison in 2011 after violating that parole for having heroin in her purse. Marsden’s murder was reportedly linked to two other murders, but because Murphy struck a deal and turned state’s evidence against other suspects, she was never charged with their deaths.

Man Convicted of Murdering 12-Year-Old After Satan Told Him to Kill Him and Drink Victim’s Blood

Pablo Vasquez was 38 years old when he was killed by lethal injection in Texas. The Washington Times said Vasquez was convicted of drinking the blood of a 12-year-old boy after attempting to decapitate the child. The murder was all, according to Vasquez, at the request of Satan. Vasquez reportedly killed David Cardenas in 1998 after he beat him with a pipe and slit his throat. By the time the seventh-grader was found, there were portions of his body missing, the report said.
