About Cold Valley
COLD VALLEY is a documentary series that follows the investigations of Asotin County Sheriff's Detective JACKIE NICHOLS as she attempts to track down an elusive serial killer and bring him to justice. Jackie dusts off long forgotten case files, tracks down witnesses, pursues leads, and digs for bodies. The clues point to one man. He is alive and well and currently a free man. Amateur sleuth and victims' family member GLORIA BOBERTZ travels across the country uncovering the suspect's hidden and sordid past. The trail of dead bodies that follows him adds to the suspiciously long list of circumstantial evidence but law enforcement needs more than circumstantial evidence, they need something concrete - a witness, a body, DNA, something that can tie the suspect to the crimes he's suspected of once and for all. Is he the unluckiest innocent man alive or the luckiest serial killer that ever lived? Will Jackie and Gloria bring resolution to the crimes and peace to the Valley before time runs out? Or will a serial killer escape justice? Back when small towns still felt safe, one community in the hills and valleys of the Pacific Northwest confronted a new kind of horror. In the late 1970s five local youth mysteriously disappeared from the Lewis Clark Valley area of Washington and Idaho. Worried parents began walking their kids to school... keeping them indoors after dark... precautions entirely new to the quaint community. Then body parts wrapped in garbage bags were found floating in the nearby Snake River. Police feared they had their first SERIAL KILLER on their hands. But just as the horrific reality became clear, the case went cold. Decades later, stay-at-home mom turned Asotin County Sheriff's Detective JACKIE NICHOLS dusts off the long forgotten case files, tracks down witnesses, and pursues leads. Photos of victims are pinned to a bulletin board near her desk, boxes and binders marked with their names sit in her office, the cases are never far from Jackie's mind and all the clues point to one suspect. She knows his name. He is alive and well and a free man. However, without hard evidence there is little she can do and time is running out. But Jackie's got help. GLORIA BOBERTZ is a cousin of one of the victims. Somehow Gloria managed to turn her immense grief into fierce determination. Her extensive research leads to new clues. She travels the country looking for answers from anyone who can help her uncover the suspect's secret and sordid past. The trail of dead bodies that appear to follow the suspect adds to the long list of circumstantial evidence but she knows that law enforcement needs more than inference, they need direct evidence like a witness, a body, DNA, something concrete to connect the suspect to the murders he's suspected of once and for all.
