13-Year-Old Girl Missing After Her Parents Were Found Dead At Home
Authorities in Wisconsin issued an Amber Alert for Jayme Closs after the 13-year-old's parents were found dead inside their home.
BARRON, WI — The 13-year-old girl who went missing after her parents were found dead in the family’s Wisconsin home may have been spotted in Miami, according to police.
Jayme Closs has been missing since Monday morning, when Barron County police officers found the bodies of her parents James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46.
Police in Miami tweeted early Monday that Closs “may have been seen” near the area of a Sunflex gas station at N.W. 27th Avenue and 11th Street.
On Monday morning at around 1 A.M., officers responded to an emergency call at the residence and found the gruesome crime scene.
“This was a gunshot crime scene,” Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told NBC News. He went on to explain that after a call was placed to emergency services, they were able to hear what was going on even though no one spoke to them.
“We could hear yelling in the background on this 911 call. No one interacted with our dispatchers, so it was just kind of an open line where we could hear different things in the background.”
Fitzgerald said that Jayme is not considered a suspect in her parents’ deaths at this time. He stated that she was “missing and endangered.”
Miami police tweeted: “If it was her, she was in a black Ford Explorer with a possible WI plate of I60WER.”
Barron County have not yet commented on the possible sighting in south Florida.
An Amber Alert has been issued for Jayme. She is described as being 5 feet tall and 100 pounds with blonde or strawberry blonde hair and green eyes.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Barron County Sheriff’s Office at (855) 744-3879.
